We use cutting-edge RAID Hardware to protect all data on the server against hard disk failures. This technology works by creating a mirror of all data on more than one hard disk automatically, without any delay i.e. all data is written to multiple hard disks simultaneously so that if any hard disk fails, that hard disk will be marked as deactivated and the system will still continue to function as though nothing has happened by using the copy of the data on the other harddisk(s). The best part is that you do not require to make any changes or special code modifications in your website/web application for this technology to function.
RAID systems offer a significant advantage over non-RAID systems, both in terms of data protection and ability to maintain 100% uptime, as the system continues to function perfectly in case of disk failures. RAID technology also marginally improves the performance of the various services on the server.
As soon as a hard disk fails, notification alerts are sent out, so that the failed hard disk can be replaced by the system administrators. As such, the system continues to perform normally despite disk failures, using the mirror of the data on the additional harddisk(s).

Property Rights and Eminent Domain $37.08 In a country built on the institution of private property, property-owner rights have been under attack. By arguing that private property is a fundamental liberty whose protection deserves the highest priority, Ellen Frankel Paul challenges one of the dominant trends of the past half century: the erosion of property rights via zoning and land use restrictions, carried on by government exercising its "police power" or promoting "the public interest." Paul begins by examining the arguments of environmentalists in support of land-use legislation, and explores a few particularly troubling examples of the exercise of eminent domain and police powers. She traces the philosophical arguments for the two powers as well as their tortuous judicial history, the meaning of property rights and investigates how previous thinkers have defended these rights is detailed, and Paul suggests a more adequate defense for them. In the concluding portion of the book, the very legitimacy of eminent domain is questioned and the author offers recommendations for its reform. This analysis is wide in scope and makes creative use of historical, legal, economic, and philosophic methodologies. It not only gives an account of the present power regulations on land, but also provides an exhaustive history of the development of the law in these two areas and of the philosophical ideas of the thinkers who helped shape this process. This book is distinctive because it places a theory of the just acquisition of property at the heart of the answer to the question of the extent to which governments can rightfully exercise the powers of eminent domain and police. "Amazingly, in a country built on the institution of private property, the right to property in land has been under increasing assault, and has seldom been defended. Paul’s book–by arguing that private property is a fundamental liberty whose protection deserves the highest priority–is a major step toward filling the void."–Robert Hessen, Stanford University "Ellen Frankel Paul" is Deputy Director of the Social Philosophy and Policy Center, and is professor of political science and philosophy at Bowling Green State University. She is also an adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute. |

The Law of Eminent Domain in the United States $40.3 Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos. Excerpt from book: the power of the judiciary.1 This recommendation was acted on in the law of March 8,1810. The comprehensive statute or code of 1841, " Expropriation for the sake of public utility," modelled on the Act of 1833, is the basis of present practice. 7. The plenary power of Parliament discourages the treatment of English constitutional questions in any but the most practical fashion. The only guide to what Parliament may do, is what Parliament has done. It might be fanciful to say that this very perfection of legal irresponsibility has proved a moral check on its abuse; but certain it is that the right of private property upheld by the common law has been hitherto no more qualified by legislation in England than here, if we except the Artisans’ Dwellings Acts and a few others, which advance the list of public uses beyond the present American terminus. Blackstoue does not follow the continental jurists in treating the eminent domain as a positive power, but, declaring the inviolability of private property, insists that if the state does take it compensation should be made.2 That there is no " eminent domain " in English jurisprudence is because the power is included, and the obligation to compensate lost, in the absolutism of Parliament. The only technical term approximating to "eminent domain" is " compulsory powers," as used in acts enabling municipal and other corporations to take property for their use. The multiplication of such acts led to the enactment of several general laws, notably the Lands Clauses Consolidation Act of 1845, which is a complete code. This Act, or one of the others of a similar class, as the Railways Clauses Consolidation Act, is incorporated by reference in the various special acts. The bulk of the English law is naturally of local interest only so far… |

The Definitive Antlr Reference: Building Domain-Specific Languages $31.65 ANTLR v3 is the most powerful, easy-to-use parser generator built to date, and represents the culmination of more than 15 years of research by Terence Parr. This book is the essential reference guide to using this completely rebuilt version of ANTLR, with its amazing new LL(*) parsing technology, tree construction facilities, StringTemplate code generation template engine, and sophisticated ANTLRWorks GUI development environment. Learn to use ANTLR directly from the author ANTLR is a "parser generator"-a program that generates code to translate a specified input language into a nice, tidy data structure. You might think that parser generators are only used to build compilers. But in fact, programmers usually use parser generators to build translators and interpreters for domain-specific languages such as proprietary data formats, common network protocols, text processing languages, and domain-specific programming languages. Domain-specific languages are important to software development because they represent a more natural, high fidelity, robust, and maintainable means of encoding a problem than simply writing software in a general-purpose language. For example, NASA uses domain-specific command languages for space missions to improve reliability, reduce risk, reduce cost, and increase the speed of development. Even the first Apollo guidance control computer from the 1960s used a domain-specific language that supported vector computations. This book is the definitive guide to using the completely rebuilt ANTLR v3 and describes all features in detail, including the amazing new LL(*) parsing technology, tree construction facilities, StringTemplate code generation templateengine, and sophisticated ANTLRWorks GUI development environment. You’ll learn all about ANTLR grammar syntax, resolving grammar ambiguities, parser fault tolerance and error reporting, embedding actions to interpret or translate languages, building intermediate-form trees, extracting information from trees, generating source code, and how to use the ANTLR Java API. |
